Laumeier Sculpture Park
Laumeier Sculpture Park is a unique urban park in St. Louis, Missouri. The park opened in 1976, and has been free to the public since the time it opened. It is a 76-acre park of rolling hills and lightly wooded areas, throughout which a variety of sculptures are placed. Some of the sculptures stick out from the landscape blatantly. Other sculptures are worked into their surroundings, so that they might not even be noticeable on first glance. There are plenty of sculptures out in the open for people to view, and still more if you are willing to go on a relatively short hike. For those who prefer not view art in an indoor setting, Laumeier Sculpture Park isn't really the place for you. There is a small indoor gallery, but most of the park is about enjoying artwork and nature side by side. The park is open every day of the year except for Christmas Day and New Years Day, and remains open from 8 a.m. until half an hour past sunset. The park is located at 12580 Rott Road, near the Clayton neighborhood in St. Louis. |
